The MLA handbook does not provide an example for this type of situation. You will need to ask your instructor where she copied the short story from and use the original publication information in your works cited page. Here is an example:
“A Witchcraft Story.” The Hopi Way: Tales from a Vanishing Culture. Comp. Mando Sevillano. Flagstaff: Northland, 1986. 33-42. Print.

If a book collects works by one author, creating separate works-cited-list entries for each story, poem, or essay that you cite from the book is usually unnecessary. If, however, your discussion focuses on only one work in the collection—for example, Euripides’s play The Trojan Women, in the collection Ten Plays, by Euripides, or Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Masque of the Red Death,” in The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe—then you might create a separate entry for the work, as shown in the examples below, taken respectively from pages 27 and 35 of the eighth edition of the MLA Handbook:

Author of Work Within Book Last Name, First Name. “Title of Shorter Work.” Title of Book, edited by Editor First Name Last Name, Publisher, Year, page numbers.
When you are citing one work from a book in the text of your paper and the book has many different authors, you will list the information about that work (critical essay, short story from an anthology, etc) first.

Containers
When citing, the title of the container is generally italicized and is followed by a comma. For example, for articles in journals, the journal is the container that holds the article.
