Use hanging indention for each entry. Begin each entry flush with the left margin; indent all subsequent lines one-half inch.
Continue with the numbering convention used throughout the paper by including your last name and the page number in the upper right-hand corner of the Works Cited page.

Font preference and size – Choose a standard, easily readable typeface and type size e.g. Times Roman 12-pt.
Paragraph Indentation – Paragraphs should be indented 5 spaces or 1/2 inch.

Placement and Formatting the List of Works Cited
The list of works cited appears at the end of the paper, after any endnotes. Begin the list on a new page. The list contains the same running head as the main text. The page numbering in the running head continues uninterrupted throughout. For example, if the text of your research paper (including any endnotes) ends on page 10, the works-cited list begins on page 11. Center the title, Works Cited, an inch from the top of the page. (If the list contains only one entry, make the heading Work Cited.) Double-space between the title and the first entry. Begin each entry flush with the left margin; if an entry runs more than one line, indent the subsequent line or lines half an inch from the left margin. This format is sometimes called hanging indention, and you can set your writing program to create it automatically for a group of paragraphs. Hanging indention makes alphabetical lists easier to use. Double-space the entire list. Continue it on as many pages as necessary.

Once you paste your list of MLA citations into your document, correct these things if necessary :

• Your Works Cited page should appear at the end of the paper.

• Works Cited is centered 1 inch from the top of the page.

• Capitalize the first word of each title and all words in the title with the exception of the, at, to, in, a, etc.

• Double space the list, both between citations and within them.

• When a citation has more than one line, use a hanging indent. To do this, indent the second line, and every line thereafter, to the right five spaces.

• Alphabetize the entire list by the first word of each citation. This may be the author’s last name or the first word in a title.

• If two or more citations are by the same author, only include the name in the first entry. Thereafter, in place of the name, type three hyphens, followed by a period and the title. Arrange the works listed under the same name in order alphabetically by title.

EasyBib is a free, online tool for generating citations. Only MLA style citations are available on the free version. EasyBib is, as it’s name suggests, easy to use, but the video below will give you some tips for finding the citations pieces you need to ensure that you get accurate, correct citations out of EasyBib.

Your research paper ends with a list of all the sources cited in the text of the paper. This is called a Works Cited list.
